The Institute of Criminal Law is a new teaching and research institution established by the School of Law in 2018 to meet the development needs of the doctoral degree authorisation of the first-level discipline of law, which is mainly engaged in teaching and research work in the direction of criminology, criminal law and criminal policy. The Institute now has one professor, two associate professors, one lecturer, one post-doctoral teacher, one doctoral supervisor, three master's supervisors, and four people have obtained the degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D.), and recruit and train master's and doctoral students in the direction of criminal law. Professor Zeng Yuexing, Director of the Institute, was awarded the "Third Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Jurist Nomination Prize" by the China Law Society. He is currently a member of the Chinese Society of Criminal Law, a member of the Chinese Society of Criminal Procedure Law, and an executive member of the Legislative Studies Society of the China Law Society.
The Institute of Criminal Law focuses on the general theory of criminal law method, penal ethics, joint crimes, environmental crimes, economic crimes, cyber crimes and other fields, and offers theoretical courses such as Criminology, General Introduction to Criminal Law, Subthesis of Criminal Law, Topics of Environmental Pollution and Punishment, Topics of Criminal Law, and at the same time practical courses such as Legal Clinic, Criminal Law Interpretation and Application, and in the future, plans to offer further courses such as Foreign Criminal Law", "Criminal Policy" and other courses.
In recent years, teachers of the Institute of Criminal Law have presided over a number of projects of the National Social Science Foundation and provincial and ministerial social science foundation projects, published more than ten books, and published hundreds of papers in professional journals such as Jurist, Law and Business Research, Global Law Review, Politics and Law, Politics and Law Forum, Jurisprudence Forum, Law Science, Journal of Laws, Chinese Journal of Criminal Law, Criminal Law Series and other professional journals. Among them, Professor Zeng Yuexing's monograph "General Theory of Criminal Law Methods" won the second prize of "Yunnan Province Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award" and "Ministry of Justice National Law Teaching Materials and Scientific Research Achievement Award" respectively, "Nomination Prize of Monograph Category of the Third Qian Duansheng Law Research Achievement Award, First Prize of Monograph Category of the First National Award for Outstanding Academic Writings on Criminal Law (1984-2014), and "Penal Ethics" won the Fourth Chinese The Ethics of Punishment won the Third Prize in the Monograph Category of the Fourth China Award for Outstanding Achievements in Jurisprudence.
