Prof Qi Yanping and Prof Xiao Junzhong of the School of Law participate in the 2023 China-Europe seminar on human rights
Co-hosted by the China Society for Human Rights Studies and the Faculty of Law of the University of Rome, Italy, the 2023 China-Europe seminar on human rights was successfully held on 20 September in Rome, the capital of Italy. Focusing on "Modernisation and the Diversity of Human Rights among Civilisations ".More than 130 experts, scholars, government officials, diplomatic envoys, representatives of political parties and social organisations from China, Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and other countriesin the field of human rights, focused on the exchange and mutual understanding of civilisations and the development of modern human rights concepts, modernisation and free and comprehensive development of human beings, sustainable development in the process of modernisation, and evolution of human rights and civilisation in the digital era.The seminar was a combination of online and offline methods for extensive and in-depth discussions and exchanges.
Qi Yanping, Professor of the School of Law of Beijing Institute of Technology and Director of the Academic Committee of Human Rights Research Centre in Science and Technology, was invited to deliver a keynote speech on "Judicial Protection of Human Rights in China in the Digital Era" (online). Xiao Junzhong, Professor of School of Law and Executive Director of Human Rights Research Center for Science and Technology, went to Rome, Italy, to attend the conference and delivered a speech on "Human Rights Values of the Global Civilization Initiative", and moderated the discussion and exchange in the second sub-forum. on September 21, Professor Xiao Junzhong took part in the interactive dialogue between Chinese scholars and the former Ambassador of Italy to China, Baidanin, which was held in Florence.
Founded in 2015, the China-Europe seminar on human rights is an institutionalised academic platform for exchanges and cooperation between China and European countries in the field of human rights.
